GOAN OVERSEAS ASSOCIATION AWARD RECORD

Name of Award: Oscar Fonseca Merit Award

Value:$250

Awarding Body: The Goan Overseas Association Executive, on the recommendation of a selection committee. The selection committee will be comprised of the GOA Executive Education Chair and two individuals from the GOA general body membership.

Description: Awarded to a high school graduate with high academic achievement (minimum standing as an Ontario Scholar in the 2006/2007 academic year).

The recipient will:
I. Have an outstanding academic record; and
II. Demonstrate involvement in extra-curricular activity, for example, the arts (music) or athletics, and/or volunteer activity.

Special consideration will be given to students who can demonstrate active involvement in extra-curricular and volunteer activities during the academic year in which they received high academic standing.

Submission Requirementss To be eligible, applicants must submit:
I. Official copy of their most recent transcript from the 2006/2007 academic year (photocopy is acceptable);
II. Evidence of participation in extracurricular activities and/or community involvement, i.e., one letter of reference; and
III. Must be a dependent of a G.O.A. member, thus must submit parent/guardian name and membership number.
