GOAN OVERSEAS ASSOCIATION AWARD RECORD Name of Award: Victor Abreu Award Value:$500 Awarding Body:The Goan Overseas Association Executive, on the recommendation of a selection committee. The selection committee will be comprised of the GOA Executive Education Chair and two individuals from the GOA general body membership. Description:Awarded to a student going into first, second, third or fourth year at college/university (includes high school graduates) who has actively contributed toward the betterment of their school and/or community. The recipient will: I. Demonstrate leadership in his/her volunteer role and consistency in involvement over a period of one or more years; II. Show involvement in extra-curricular activity, for example, the arts (music) and/or athletics, etc.; and III. Have a good academic record (minimum B - approximately 70%). Special consideration will be given to students who can demonstrate involvement with the Goan Overseas Association in a volunteer capacity. Submission Requirements: To be eligible, applicants must submit: I. A description of his/her community involvement (300-500 words); II. Two letters of reference will be required. (Including at least one community reference); III. Official copy of their most recent transcript from the 2006/2007 academic year (photocopy is acceptable); and IV. Must be a dependent of a G.O.A. member, thus must submit parent/guardian name and membership number.
