There is no doubt that every Goan has a "Goa of their dreams" in their minds. There are thousands of websites one can chose from, just to voice our frustrations of the present day Goa.Is that sufficient to bring about that much needed CHANGE? Let us all for a change FOCUS on what we can do (even without the help of politicians). Let us for a moment assume that politicians too want to help us achieve our dream for Goa. Maybe they don't have the expertise to give them simple low cost solutions. Today's YOUTH is brimming with excellent ideas, let us share those ideas in this forum and suggest practical solutions to make Goa a better place.
How about starting with solutions for our garbage problems? Goa's 14 lakh population may not be able to afford a trip to a garbageless place called singapore, but do we have the power and the potential to bring singapore to Goa? YES WE CAN!
Let's start with our capital city of Panjim, take for example Kadamba bus stand Panjim. Every morning one finds the sweepers raising the highly infective dust as they sweep. All kinds of people and patients from an outside Goa land up at KTC Panjim spitting and coughing their infective sputum all over the place, when this dries up, many organisms can still be inhaled through the dust that is raised while sweeping these floors at KTC .
Solution: Employ the same sweepers to stop people from creating garbage, by directing them to appropriately placed bins at KTC(various colour coded bins for different types of waste). The bins will have to be emptied at regular intervals during the course of the day.Soon the word will spread that at KTC one cannot throw waste anywhere and everwhere. The sweepers should be provided with equipment for wet mopping of floors preferably with disinfectant.
All other kadamba bus stands in Goa can do the same. This could be applicable in all public places, colleges, universities, hospitals.
