From the Joseph Naik Vaz Institute....
June 23rd is the anniversary of the first Mass said by Goan Blessed Joseph Vaz on Sri Lankan soil in 1687 and the 6th anniversary of the Joseph Naik Vaz Institute's Mass on June 23, 2000 in Rome at the Oratorian church, Chiesa Nuova, presided by Cardinal Emeritus of Mumbai, Cardinal Simon Pimenta. Cardinal Pimenta personally handed the Joseph Naik petition for the 2000 Jubilee canonization of Blessed Joseph Vaz to Pope John Paul II. See an article on Blessed Vaz below.
Honor your Goan heritage. Does your Goan organization/association and church/priests remember and celebrate native Goan saints like Blessed Vaz and Venerable Agnelo? Be true to your true Goan heritage and pass Goan history to your children and grandchildren, not just European history.
