G.O.A. Lifetime Volunteer Award

This award is in recognition of an individual who:

  • Has demonstrated an exemplary long-term commitment to the voluntary sector through sharing their expertise, skill set and knowledge;
  • Currently resides in the GTA 
  • Has volunteered for more than 25 years to either one community service organization such as the G.O.A., or a number of community service organizations on a long-term basis
  • Is a true role model for  other volunteers in his/her organization or in the Goan community
  • Devotes an abundance of their time and resources, and is passionate about helping others
  • Sets the example for how just one individual can make such an enormous impact in their community by helping others so unselfishly



G.O.A. Business of the Year Award

A Goan business that has been in operation for more than 5 years and has consistently offered outstanding service and/or product to its customers and displays a strong commitment to community involvement.

  • This business will be judged as having the best overall combination of corporate citizenship, potential for growth, stability, and dedication to the community
  • Consider this question – what business would I choose to represent our community?

(Nominations for this award must be accompanied by your comments as to why you feel this business deserves this award)



 G.O.A. Community Service Award

Honor persons who are making significant contributions to the Goan Canadian community through their time, actions, talents and dedication (outside any volunteer work done for their employer). The honoree selected should serve as a role model for compassion, and service and be striving to make the world a better place. He/ she should have a passion for helping others in the Goan community.

Persons being nominated for this award will have consistently demonstrated qualities of compassion, and service to either one organization or a variety of volunteer activities or a community in one or more years. The charitable activities / events or service listed on the application cannot be part of the nominee’s job description or duties and the individual cannot receive any monetary or personal benefits from their involvement.



 G.O.A. Youth Volunteer Achievement Award
  • be between 15 and 24 years old
  • be a resident of Ontario
  • have volunteered for a large amount of time with a charity, not-for-profit or person
  • be a role model for other young people and inspire them to volunteer



 G.O.A. Young Achiever’s Award

Outstanding young immigrant in Canada to celebrate their community or professional achievements and success from locally or abroad. The award recognizes the individual’s work based on the positive impact on their peers, their profession/industry or on society.

To be eligible for the award, applicants must be:

  • a Canadian citizen or permanent resident that immigrated to Canada
  • aged 35 years or younger

Eligible activities for consideration include:

  • Professional and business successes
  • Volunteerism and social impact
  • Mentorship and positive influence
  • Community involvement



 G.O.A. Cultural Achievement Award

Have made a significant contribution to the arts and culture in the Goan community and perhaps beyond. Over time and through their professional or volunteer work in the cultural sector, they have exhibited a generosity of spirit and helped develop the cultural mosaic of the community through the organization and participation in cultural events. Demonstrated excellence in their field, and as being a significant inspiration to others. Recognized by their peers and the community as a whole, to have given distinguished service in Goan arts and culture and / or have been recognized for excellence in an arts or cultural field.



 G.O.A. Language (Konkani) Ambassador Award

Have made a significant contribution to keeping the language Konkani Alive in the Goan community . Over time and through their professional or volunteer work  to promote the Konkani language in a consistent manner  over more then 1 year.



 G.O.A. Sportsperson of the Year Award
  • Has achieved considerable success in their chosen sport within a competitive setting.  Made a significant impact in their sport or team
  • open to any athlete, coach, and official operating at the Junior or Senior level in an individual or team sport
  • Nominees will be judged on their performances and/or sport achievements prior to 2017
  • Through their achievements, they have also demonstrated the significant role that sport can play in developing role models and ambassadors, promoting the value and benefits provided by sport participation
