“Sunday December 13th the GOA Retirees and Friends Hop, a sold out and a very well-organized event, show-cased many talented artists from our community.

Heading the extravaganza was Delphine Francis, assisted by her husband Errol Francis, Ivan and Debbie Araujo, Polly and Theodora Dias. Delphine and Ivan were Masters of Ceremony for the occasion at the Sapphire Banquet Hall, introducing the many performers and having impromptu prizes thorough-out the afternoon. Some of the high-lights were as follows:

Clive Dias and his band “Highlife” were the primary band for the afternoon and set the mood for the event. The crowd quickly had their toes tapping on the dance floor.

Lucio and Janet (former Miss Goa), “Doctors in Motion” performed a duo with Lucio on the keyboard and Janet singing, proving to everyone that one can be good-looking and talented!

Errol Francis revived his 1960’s band “Quintet Combo”, with Tom Francis, William Fernandes, Polly Dias and Auggie Pereira, reminding us of the great musical era of the 60’s! These “old timers” certainly put on a fabulous show and got the entire crowd twisting, jiving and ‘rock n rolling’. To add some Goan flavour to the program Margaret D`Souza, Al D`Souza and Delphine Francis sang a few carols in Konkani

Saozinha Gonsalves brought the house down with her singing and comedic act. Susan Boyle from Britain’s Got Talent move over….Saozinha was a sensation and I am sure Simon Cowell would agree!

Yorricks Pilgrims thrilled the crowd singing A Capella. There was pin-drop silence as these beautiful voices rang through the banquet hall with Christmas Carols.

Delphine DaCosta displayed her star quality as she entertained the crowd with a melody of songs. Again, why were these ladies not given recording contracts?

Chris Lobo and his band “Rhythm Nation” provided more reason to put some serious dents on the dance floor.

High Life brought the afternoon to a close with more dance tunes.. Barbara Dias and Allan Pires accompanied the band with their great vocals.

The sellout crowd`s positive attitude and enthusiasm created an atmosphere of comradeship and much merriment.

Lots of fun, too many to capture! You had to be there!! Numerous e-mails and telephone calls attest to the function’s success. Well Done Delphine, Errol, Ivan, Debbie, Ivan, Polly and Theodora. It was great working with you.
