Hello All, INVESTING IN GOA - International Goan Organization of Ontario (IGO) Information Session on Sunday, August 26th, 2007 at the Eatonville Library, 430 Burnhamthorpe Road, Etobicoke from 2.00 pm to 4.00PM. Here you are, thousands of miles away from Goa, and there are a host of real estate/property management/ investment issues on your mind….Are these some of them? …â€Now that I finally have that property in Panjim, what do I do if my tenant leaves? How can I stay on top of rent collection and other property management issues?†…â€Oh! yes! What about Mum and Dad’s place in Candolim?…They are getting on in years and who is going to ensure the property taxes/electricity bills are paid on time?†…â€What on earth am I to do about getting back my house in Anjuna from Cousin Pedro? Just because I am here in Toronto doesn’t mean he can try and sell it under a forged Power of Attorney! …â€If that is not enough, what about all the hassles Cousin Anton is having with that huge property he inherited in Margao? †…â€Most importantly my son wants to invest in Goa and keeps reminding me that India is today one of the fastest growing economies in the world and one of the most transparent and mature global markets. I would love to encourage him but I know so little about buying, selling and leasing real estate in Goa, to say nothing of the banking, financial, mortgage and taxation issues involved. And being so far away certainly doesn’t help!†Problems…Problems…Problems… Well, ….guess what….. now you can take a whole load of your mind. How? Come and attend the IGO’s Information Session at the Eatonville Library. Among other things you will: …understand how your interests and the interests of your banking institution intersect at various levels and use this knowledge to maximize the services your bank can provide. …learn how you and your bank can do the necessary preparatory work right here in Canada so you can cut across needless “red tape†in Goa itself and access speedy and effective services ….access a list of lawyers in North, Central and South Goa that are competent, reputable and committed and whose legal services are transparent, reliable and trustworthy …learn about the latest legislative measures now being initiated to protect the interests of Goan people living abroad Feel better already? Why are we doing this? Well, the IGO of Ontario believes that by enhancing the ability of Goans abroad to manage their investment, real estate and related financial issues in Goa, this endeavour will contribute to the furthering of our essential objective to enhance solidarity and pride in our motherland. Most importantly, this will signal to our younger generation the very real benefits of investing in Goa and so lay the groundwork and potential for them to stay “connected†in the years to come.
