The Goan Community of Oman (GCO) headed by Mr. Flynn de Lima, President, has taken the initiative to host the Global Goan Convention 2009 in Muscat in November 5 – 6, 2009 in association with the Embassy of India in the Sultanate of Oman.

His Excellency the Ambassador of India Mr. Anil Wadhwa has very graciously agreed to spare the Embassy Auditorium and the Lawn for the Convention which will be inaugurated by Shri. Eduardo Faleiro the Hon’ble Commissioner for NRI Affairs Government of Goa in the distinguished presence of H. E. the Ambassador.

We take this opportunity to send you notice of this convention which besides the usual programme also focuses on Konkani so as to provide an emotional link and platform for all the Goans to unite. A session would also be devoted exclusively for the participants to voice their grievances, concerns and suggestions for follow-up action on the part of the Government of India, the Indian Missions and the State Government depending upon the issues involved.

This is the first Convention taking place in the Gulf Region to deal exclusively with issues concerning Gulf Goans.
