The Goan Overseas Association was approached by a non-profit organization based in India called Indicorps. Indicorps encourages aspiring young leaders from the Indian diaspora to engage in intense grassroots development opportunities that explore the promise of leadership and leverage their skills and talents to address India's pressing needs. They are currently recruiting professionals and soon-to-be college graduates of Indian origin for our August 2008 Fellowship.  There are over 50 exciting community-based projects ranging from educating tribal youth in Maharashtra to increasing production of natural dye based products in Karnataka (read on for a full list of projects). The Indicorps Fellowship Program, founded in August 2002, was designed to provide a one-of-a-kind transformational experience, emphasizing both public service and personal growth.  Since then over 75 young Indians, from the age of  22 to 35, have come from abroad with impeccable credentials (PhD in physics, architect, management consultant, electrical engineer) and amazing talents (singer/songwriter(s), hip-hop artist, football player) to participate in the fellowship. Indicorps alumni currently serve as doctors, lawyers, MBAs, teachers, filmmakers, published authors, entrepreneurs, PhD students, directors of neighborhood programs, and board members. To learn more about the Indicorps Fellowship, projects, or current fellows visit (www.indicorps.org) or view the Indicorps video at http://www.news.indicorps.org/magazine/). Applications are due March 31, 2008.
